Records of a firm of merchants and importers of Philadelphia, including letters, accounts current, and invoices. The firm Samuel Coates succeeded the firm Reynell and Coates in 1776. The papers prior to that date are for the partnership. Both firms were primarily importers of a wide variety of commodities, as well as merchants handling domestic goods.
